Ittiam Systems has announced the availability of audio codecs and post-processing algorithms for the ARM Cortex-M4 processor. The products include a fully optimized implementation of MP3 and WMA decoders, complemented by a set of audio effects and acoustic processing algorithms.

The company's existing codec offering on the Cortex-M3 processor is fully functional out-of-the-box with a 10% performance improvement on the Cortex-M4 processor. In addition, the audio codecs have been fully optimized to take advantage of the Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) unit and enhanced DSP instructions of the Cortex-M4 processor, enabling a 2X performance gain over the Cortex-M3 processor implementations.

The suite of audio post processing algorithms is especially suited for portable audio players and mobile phones, and includes bass and treble control, graphic equalizer, parametric equalizer, stereo widening, reverb, DRC, peak limiter and virtual surround. Additional portable and high-definition audio codecs are expected to be announced later this year. For more information about the audio software, contact mkt@ittiam.com.
