Sunnyvale, Calif.—Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX19993, a fully integrated, 1200MHz to 1700MHz, dual, downconverting mixer with an on-chip LO switch, buffer, and splitter.
The MAX19993 provides two independent downconversion channels, each with a +27dBm (typ) IIP3, 6.4dB (typ) conversion gain, and 9.8dB (typ) noise figure. Additionally, the MAX19993 offers a 2RF-2LO spurious rejection of 72dBc for an RF level of -10dBm, and 67dBc for a level of -5dBm. This mixer is designed specifically for 1500MHz WCDMA/LTE wireless-infrastructure applications in which high linearity and a low noise figure are critical for enhanced receiver sensitivity and blocker immunity.
As a complete SiGe downconverter, the MAX19993 integrates two state-of-the-art mixer cores; four amplifiers; three baluns; an LO switch, buffer, and splitter; and dozens of discrete components. The 6.4dB conversion gain enables the elimination of a complete IF amplifier stage within the receiver lineup. The 2RF-2LO performance also eases the filtering requirements of close-in harmonics, leading to simpler and more cost-effective filter designs. Through this combination of integration and performance, the MAX19993 reduces mixer solution size by a factor of 2x and the discrete part count by 45%, according to Maxim.
The MAX19993 is packaged in a compact, 6mm x 6mm, 36-pin TQFN.
