Concord, N.H. Melexis has released its second generation Hall-effect latch sensor dubbed MLX92211 that operates from 2.7 to 24-V, making it well-suited for not only automotive applications, but consumer and industrial as well.

The MLX92211 integrates a voltage regulator, Hall sensor with advanced offset cancellation system and an open-drain output driver in a 3-pin Thin SOT (TSOT) package for SMD-mounting .

The MLX92211 core is based on a high voltage sub-micron process suited to handle low and high operating voltages as well as low and high operating temperature from -40 to 150ºCelsius.

The whole magnetic core was reinvented in this platform with a special focus on the offset cancellation system to allow faster and more accurate processing while being temperature insensitive. A negative temperature coefficient of -1000ppm/ºC was implemented to compensate the natural behavior of magnets becoming weaker with rise in temperature.

This results in stable and accurate magnetic switching points of typically ±3mT at 25ºC, while the output is updated every 6µs with a jitter of only ±3µs, increasing the repeatability factor within the application.

Key automotive applications include electrical power steering (EPS), window lifters/sunroof, seat adjusters, wipers or motor commutation.

Availability: High volume production with engineering samples available on request.
