Honeywell released the NBP series of basic board-mount pressure sensors for medical applications.

The sensors are being marketed as a cost-effective, basic performance, mV output, unamplified, uncompensated solution for customers seeking high-volume, economical board-mount pressure sensors.

These high-resolution sensors are aimed at customers who want to do their own compensation, calibration, and amplification to make use of the maximum resolution of the bare sensor output.

Potential medical applications include pressure monitoring for wound therapy machines, hospital beds, oxygen concentrators, and blood pressure monitors. Potential industrial applications include HVAC transmitters, air movement control, environmental control, level indicators, leak detection, industrial control, and other commercial applications.

Honeywell designed this device to Six Sigma standards. The NBP Series features a durable design that operates over the full temperature range of -40 °C to 150 °C. Numerous packaging styles, pressure ranges, housings, gel coating, and porting are being offered to meet specific application needs and simplify integration.

The sensor's compact package size of 7 mm x 7 mm [0.276 in x 0.276 in]) allows for easy placement on crowded printed circuit boards or in small devices.
