New economical 12-bit 20MS/s PC scope adapters

Pittsford, NY. PicoScope PS3224 is a new two-channel PC oscilloscope adapter with 12 bit resolution, 20 Msample/s sampling rate and a large 512 Ksample memory buffer. The USB 2.0 connection makes connection and installation easy, offering smooth, responsive waveform displays. The USB 2.0 interface also powers the unit, eliminating the need for an external power supply. And it is small enough to carry anywhere you need. PicoScope PS3424 is 4-channel version with the same performance.

The majority of oscilloscopes on the market offer 8 bit resolution with small waveform buffers. However, PS3224 and PS3424, with their high resolution and large memory, are ideally suited to applications such as noise, vibration and harshness studies, as well as audio analysis. 12-bit resolution gives the instrument a 72 dB dynamic range, which enables detection of low-level harmonics when used in spectrum analyzer mode. PS3224 and PS3424 are supplied with PicoScope (display) and PicoLog (datalogging) software applications, a 32 bit Windows driver and support for numerous third-party applications. Software capabilities include oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer and multi-meter functions, with the ability to measure, save and print waveforms.

PS3224 and PS3424 also perform as powerful data loggers that can export data to a spreadsheet or display it as a graph, in real time or using recorded data. The software provided is easy for the novice to use, but also contains a full range of advanced features for expert users. The large memory buffer allows even long-duration signals to be captured at its top sampling speed of 20 Msample/s with 1% voltage accuracy and 100 ppm time-base accuracy. PS3224 and PS3424’s 12-bit resolution produces high-quality waveforms that can be vertically zoomed to reveal even higher levels of detail.

PicoScope PC oscilloscopes have many advantages over traditional instruments:

* Waveform storage limited only by the PC's storage capability

* Captured waveforms and instrument settings can easily be shared

* New functionality through free future software upgrades

* Compact and portable design

* Large memory buffers allow capture of fast and complex signals

* USB 2.0 (480 Mb/s) gives fast data transfer, screen updates

* USB-bus powered — no need for external supply.
