Fairfield, N.J. Link Instruments, Inc. has introduced the MSO-19 mixed-signal oscilloscope. This USB-powered, PC-based multi-tool integrates multiple instrument functionality a digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer and digital pattern generator required for today's digital designs in a single device.
The MSO-19 triggers on I2C and SPI data streams; performs Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) measurements, and outputs both parallel and serial digital patterns, which are advanced features not found on most standalone instruments, according to Link. With a trigger out signal, the MSO-19 can be used to add digital and serial data triggering to any standalone scope.
The MSO-19 is a 2 GSa/s scope, an 8-channel 200 MSa/s logic analyzer and a 100 MSa/s pattern generator with a set of TDR functions. This combination creates a powerful debugging tool for FPGA-based designs, allowing designers to trigger and stimulate digital circuits using a single instrument. The TDR is capable of operating in both pulse and step modes, enabling designers to identify problems with both short and long transmission lines.
The MSO-19 also offers a complete set of measurement functions as well as printing and storing of captured data via the PC. Acquired data can also be shared without having the physical MSO on hand, to assist remote data acquisition and analysis.
Pricing: The MSO-19 is offered at a list price of $249. Price includes the MSO-19 main unit, software, a 60-MHz bandwidth switchable 1x/10x passive probe, and a USB cable. The instrument is offered to students at a reduced price of $199.
