With the MOST150 infotainment bus system entering series
production, Goepel electronic provides a new communication controller
supporting that bus system during design and test of MOST-based
automotive systems. While completely redesigned, the PXI 6161
architecture is based on the company's successful Series 61. Using this
new hardware platform, users are able to individually and flexibly
configure the controller according to their individual needs, the
Using the PowerPC architecture, the PXI 6161 offloads the host PC
within the PXI test hardware rack and valuable bandwidth for additional
application is obtained, enabling complex and CPU-intensive processes to
be executed on the 6161 card. Based on the latest MOST150 integrated
circuit INIC OS81110 and the corresponding SpyNIC, the PXI 6161 is
capable of stimulating and streaming MOST content.
A number of additional functions are integrated into the firmware.
For example, ring break diagnosis (RBD), several trigger inputs and
outputs and the functionality for creating a parallel CAN/LIN network
are also fully implemented. The module can assume the role of a MOST bus
master, a slave or a spy. If several modules are used within a PXI
system, various unique and simultaneous MOST networks can be generated
for several devices under test.
The modular hardware architecture enforces efficient software design
for organizing all application tasks. The modular hardware and software
allow parameterization via Goepel electronics' Windows standard API. For
instance, users may install and execute (supported by an on-board API)
self-generated program code on the module. Also Goepel electronics' test
sequencer contains communications and verifying routines for automatic
