SAN JOSE, Calif. — LSI Logic Corp. Chairman Wilf Corrigan will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the second EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards gala, which will be held Tuesday (April 4) evening as part of the Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley here.

Corrigan founded LSI in 1981. He is considered a pioneer in the ASIC business.

"Wilf is a legend in the semiconductor business and has been at the cutting edge of innovation for nearly 50 years," said Abhi Talwalkar, LSI president and CEO. "Receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from a prestigious publication such as the EE Times is a testament to the significance Wilf has played in the technology world."

The EE Times ACE Awards Lifetime Achievement Award candidates were selected by the editors of EE Times based on their individual accomplishments over the course of their careers.

Corrigan will be honored along with 12 other individual, team, product and company winners at an awards gala Tuesday evening at the Fairmont Hotel here. The awards are designed to recognize leadership in the electronics industry.

"I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with tremendous people throughout my career and they share in this award," Corrigan said.

Corrigan earned a bachelor of science from the Imperial College of Science in London in 1960. He holds honorary degrees from the University of Calgary and the University of Liverpool. In 1977, Corrigan founded the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) with Robert Noyce of Intel Corp., Jerry Sanders of Advanced Micro Devices Corp. and Charlie Sporck of National Semiconductor Inc.

Corrigan served as chief executive of LSI from the time of the company's founding until stepping down last spring. He reportedly plans to step down as chairman of the company following the completion of his current term.

Prior to LSI, Corrigan worked for Motorola and Fairchild. He received the SIA's Robert N. Noyce Award in 1998.

Corrigan is a member of the board of directors for Silicon Power Corp., FEI Co., Lucas Film Entertainment Co. and the SIA. He also has served as chairman of the SIA board of directors from 1989-1990 and 2003-2004.
