According to Express Logic (San Diego), ThreadX version 5.0 provides a better fit for microcontroller-based applications and adds new development benefits for all users.

New features of the RTOS, including advanced run-time stack analysis, built-in trace, event-chaining and priority flexibility, enable programmers to identify application problem areas and fine-tune system performance, according to Express Logic.

"We expect ThreadX V5 to open the door to new microcontroller applications, as well as to further benefit developers of devices based on traditional 32-bit RISC processors," said William Lamie, Express Logic president, in a statement.

Lamie promised that new releases of the company's NetX TCP/IP network stack, FileX file system and USBX USB stack would be forthcoming.

Express Logic said ThreadX V5 is supported with development tools from Altera Corp., Analog Devices Inc., ARC, ARM Holdings plc, Freescale Semiconductor Inc., Green Hills Software, IAR, MIPS, Wind River Systems Inc., Xilinx Inc., and GNU.

ThreadX V5 is available now, with royalty-free licenses starting at $12,500, the company said.

Also this week, Express Logic said product deployments of ThreadX now total in excess of 300 million.
