MIT claims 24/7 solar power
|
Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers combined a liquid catalyst with photovoltaic cells to achieve a solar system that could generate electricity around the clock. During the day, solar cells (blue) use electrolysis to split water into hydrogen (red) and oxygen (green) using an electrolyzer (gray). At night, a fuel cell recombines the two and uses the released energy to generate electricity.
