Memristors, irresistible?
Shown here are 17 memristors sandwiched between one top crossbar and 17 bottom crossbars. Current is passed through a memristor by activating its top- and bottom-crossbars. The device remembers the direction and how much current has flown through it by changing its resistance--hence the name "memory resistor" or memristor. Hewlett Packard Labs is promising prototypes of memristor-based memory chips by next year.
