SoCs no panacea for comms infrastructure
Like "military intelligence," the "comms infrastructure system-on-chip" is almost, but not quite, an oxymoron. Unlike battery-powered handsets, the room-size cellular basestations and telecom switching stations that make up the real comms infrastructure have scant need for highly integrated, small-form-factor, low-power ICs.

  • Benefits, risks in 90-nm SoC solutions
  • Smart partitioning eyes 3G basestation
  • IC suppliers ramp system-level design

  • Amplifier linearization promotes efficiency in multi-carrier WCDMA basestation
  • Tailoring is critical to successful RF analog CMOS chips
  • Exploration of the design space for integrated Bluetooth CMOS RFICs
