U.S. House passes patent reform
Rick Merritt6/23/2011 6:28 PM EDT
The House overwhelmingly approved the HR 1249 bill by a vote of 304-117. The Senate has already approved a similar bill and President Obama says he will sign it. Watch for a news story today and an analysis tomorrow. My question: What do you think and what do you want to know about this bill?

What are major practical changes? How will it be more useful/effective as compare to current law? Will US research be more protected and rewarded?

One big change is a move to "first to file" rather than "first to invent". That change lines the US patent law up with the rest of the world.
