Handset PAs: GaAs vs. CMOS?

Would you expect CMOS based PAs work to support hgh data rate modulation schemes such as 3G/4G OR trend would still be narrow band GaAS PA?

I do see some companies coming up with CMOS based PAs but thinks these are for 2G and does not provide competitive performance for 3G compared to GaAs PA...Any comments.
