I think Bob's right on the mix of HW developers to SW folks, assuming a lot of the design is outsourced. We did the Sun Ray 1 thin client on this model and it worked.
But,but....some of the SW guys need to be comfortable in the lab with IDE's and (shudder) logic analyzers.
Imho, it is far easier to fins hardware guys who are pretty good software developers than vice versa.
