"intensive competition is being waged by national and regional governments to attract semiconductor manufacturing and [R&D] investment," the SIA report asserted".... U.S. "Trade" Policy & "GamePlan" => "oh-well ... SemiConductors are not important". Eventually - No U.S. Industry will be important (including U.S. Military ... which won't have much of a base to work from regarding "Next-Gen" Hardware ... ut let's not think about that - now!!!)

"SIA called for new U.S. tax and economic incentive policies to boost chip manufacturing and R&D".... whcih is when American Companies say they are "American Companies", please help us ... and then after the "American Companies" get the incentives (& bailout $$$ from U.S. Taxpayers) then they go back to Shipping U.S. Jobs Overseas and Hiring H1-B Workers for U.S. Jobs in the U.S.

Just shows you what foresight US companies and governemt have with regard to home-grown R&D. Companies are trading near-term stock growth and capital gain for far-term capability. Once all the expertise and manufacturing is abroad, what are WE left with here other than the consumer market?
