Nice link, but can we PLEASE stop with the "iTouch" references? It is called "iPod Touch". It was never called "iTouch". EETimes seems to get this wrong in every Apple related article. Thanks.

Dear Herman: The short answer is--to support a much larger, higher reslution display than on the iPhone. Dear Richard J: Maybe you are one of the few who wants the Tablet PC Microsoft spearheaded a few years back.

herman_munster: You can find out more about the Freescale Smartbook reference design at: http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=RDSMARTBOOK The site includes a fact sheet that gives approximately the same level of detail as a tear-down. I can't find schematics or BOM. They do have pictures and a video.

Thx for your answer. But It puzzled me again. In my mind, whatever BCM5974 or BCM5973 chip, they have the full cap sennsor measurement function,Right? Use two chips, means the ITO sensor or pattern are divided into two or three parts ? Why not use the same one?And the other Texas Instruments analog chip, controll these two chips or filter noise or some other functions?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
