Hi Barry -- really -- that does make sense, but I don;t recall the Police Box at the bottom of our road (when I was a kid) having one of these ... but then I don;t remember what I was doing last week these days :-)

Hi Max, just catching up on your blog, I got a bit behind. If by "Antenna" (which of course would be "aerial" in England) you and Mike mean the thing sticking out of the top - that's a flashing blue light! cheers Barry

Hi Mike -- I'm not sure what the antenna is or where it came from -- one of those mysteries of time and space I guess. I will post those pick of the Babbage machine as soon as I've recovered them from my old machine -- Cheers -- Max

Max, loved the picture of the police box! I don't remember the Tardis having that antenna, but I'll leave that mystery to you hardware types. It would be great to see the Babbage machine. You know University of Indiana did a rebuild of the ABC computer as well?

On the one hand I love my new computer ... on the other hand it's really hard to get used to the new OS and applications ... but just wait until I tell you about my new notepad-specific padded / protected backpack in a future blog...

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.

I recently received an email from someone we'll call Martin (because that's his name). Martin's message was short and sweet. In its entirety it read: "You need to see this!"
