This is always a challenge in the area of consumer electronics. The only way to overcome would be to invest for the future. This requires a lot of creative and technology people working together to imagine the gadgets that could rule the future. Apple is able to do this with their ipod, iphone followed by ipad. Motorola can do this!!! Invest in people ...

Motorola is expected to release the Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet in Q1 which will cover up the speed bump mentioned by the analyst. Also IMO the Motorola Olympus smartphone releasing in Jan with DualCore tegra chip is gonna speed up sales.

Moto needs to have phones for sale at Sprint and AT&T to counter Verizon's iPhone offering. And will their Windows offering make it off the drawing board?

Not only flanking competition from iPhone, but frontal attack by some excellent Samsung devices. Best wishes to MMI.

I am very hopeful that Motorola is coming back with good gadgets and technologies. This company has a tradition and will compete itself out of the speed bumps.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
