These Knowles mics are terrific for consumer applications. They very sensitive, smaller package, sound great, and have an integrated amplifier. From what I've seen of MEMs oscillators, I seriously doubt there will be an equivalently wonderful MEMS device that revolutionizes the oscillator market.
This is an excellent use of microelectromechanical engineering, even the I have also not heard any Professional Microphone manufacturer using MEMS Microphone, it would be surely giving better sound compared to the present day condenser microphones.
