Smart cars and smart roads are becoming a reality. We can hope to see more and more highly intelligent cars that enable us to detect danger sooner and assist in avoiding collisions. Perhaps in the future, a small dvr will be included in vehicles so that they would record what happens on the road as evidence during accidents. Sam - http://www.cctvdirect.co.uk

In intelligent transportation, , surveillance systems also can be used not only inside cars, but also outside cars for improving road safety. 

For example, for the highway system in China, there is a highway tunnel surveillance control room project which comprised of a video surveillance system, an emergency operations system, a vehicle recognition system, and a traffic management system. And crucially at the center, a video wall was needed in the main control room that was able to display all data and video coming from these systems in real time, with advanced warning capabilities that could draw an operators'attention to the most critical images.

In this way, it's easier to control the traffic in tunnel, and people can react immediately when accident happens.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
