The best thing that ever happened to the iPod/iphone was the creation of the App Store and many thousands of applications. It is rare now when you can't find an applicaiton or many applications that will do exactly what you need often at no cost.
As for e-Readers you should check out the Amazon Kindle. I have a first generation version and it is great for outdoor reading - much better than using a device with a standard display like an iPod or iPad.
Thanks for the pointers, likewise I delayed my adoption of latest gadgets, but when the utilitarian value of GPS is brought into a cell phone, I had to upgrade my old trusty for a newer model from Samsung recently.
Also, regarding e-readers,I have been draging my feet, but we got an ipod tablet for my wife.
Howeer for outdoor reading, nothing compares to the monochrome versions, but we have not made the leap yet. Anyone else have any suggestions for outdoor e-readers?
