This research work proves that there is a big bang future in nano technology. The 20 times boost in piezo response will help in many places like sensors for vibration monitoring,convertion of vibration in to power etc. The thrermo electric device 60to 90% is even though a small development the cost accompanying the milling them may over come the benifit.
Energy harvesting is another one of those technologies that seems to forever be "almost here," which is why I combined these two separate research efforts into a single story. Both piezoelectric and thermoelectric energy harvesters were demonstrated many years ago, but the devil-in-the-details has been efficiency. These two enhancements of their respective coefficients bring both energy harvesting technologies closer to commercialization, but ti looks like the apps are still going to be "almost here" for at least a few more years.
