Kris- I understand your point: in the big scheme of things, no one would dispute that disruptions of the chip equipment supply chain pale in comparison to the humanitarian consequences of the disaster in Japan. But we are EE Times--our readers count on us to report on the possible implications of this tragedy on the chip industry.

Extremely valuable and timely analysis. Please keep updating. This is a huge tragedy for the people of Japan. But supply chains disruptions also affect livelihood for many people across the globe as supplies get interrupted and factories shut down. I'm sure many executives are worried about how this will impact their supply chain, hit their financials and thereby employees paychecks. The tragedy brings home the importance of proactive supply chain risk management to ensure that our supply chains have the capacity to withstand at least a few precious days worth of interruptions to give us time to execute recovery plans. - Bindiya Vakil, Resilinc

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
