If assembly is so complex and delicate, why not at the end they epoxy mold whole assembly? This may give better thermal performance and may also be more reliable. And it will be difficult to disassemble.

Isn't this iphone release long ago in the market? Is the 10 layer board is not common the mobiles considering the small and dense boards required for the smart phones.

Very interesting story Rick. I'd been wondering how they got all of that into my phone (but didn't want to do the disassembly to find out.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
