I wonder how this will improve the life of the phone including the power implications. The biggest problem with smart phones now is battery power. Most people have to have car chargers and wall chargers if they plan to get through the day with a smart phone. Possibly phones will become as thin as ipad 2's some day because of this technology.

Wow - this means some startups are going to be in trouble now. It is always a risk not to sell early because very soon the big companies will try the idea. this is something really cool and some of these suppliers will be out.

If integration is only completed by clever algorithms, not with special analog IP,this will cost down and improve performance, reduce the LCD screen thickness.

Perhaps they did not really integrate because there are a few choices of touch screen to combine with diffrent choices of LCD displays. Perhaps nowdays the integrated offer will only include capacitive touch screen? And if the touch screen has problem, is it easy o replace or we need to replace the LCD also?

"If the touchscreen controller makers are successful at converting LCD manufacturers into touchscreen makers, they will effectively eliminate the need for the three dozen companies... that specializes in making add-on touchscreens today." Can anyone tell me the names of those "three dozen" companies (the public ones) that could potentially be hurt by this?

Remarkable step in Display and Touch Screen and HMIs. I was wondering since long that why displays are not manufactured with a common interface and connection for both touch screens and display ports on one connectors. This will be available now with proper integration.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems. Signal integrity sage Ransom Stephens will explain how PAM4 differs from NRZ and what to expect in design, measurement, and signal analysis.
