re: Intel invests $22M in three Chinese firms

What are you crudentials to consider China "best" in manufacturing? The US companies have handed the majority of high-tech manufacturing technology/processes over the past decades in the name of corporate profits. That's in addition to known(criminal) transfer of secret and proprietary information by Chinese subjects to their "home country", technology that included top secret US military industry designs. I suggest that you keep buying Chinese manufactured products at WallMart and go down with the all of the rising unemployed citizens of the USA.

Certainly not any that seem to have contributed to the balance of trade. It's manufacturing, production and export that keeps the economy (and welfare)of any country running.

Apple let the way by having all of their products manufactured in China! Have you purchase any "Made in USA" products lately?

To put this story in better perspective, it would have useful to show which other countries and types of companies Intel invested in, particularly in the USA.

Since China is best in manufacturing, I am wondering if US companies, such as Intel, should invest in manufacturing "start-ups" as well, to gain/develop manufacturing technologies.

Yes when you have cash you never need, you spend it in China. Someone has to watch Intel, they will acquire AMD in five years and we will all have one MPU supplier.

Intel is holding lot of cash in its kitty. No wonder its investing in Chinese start-up's because these companies have potential to grow big. Wondering why Apple doesn't follow this approach ?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems. Signal integrity sage Ransom Stephens will explain how PAM4 differs from NRZ and what to expect in design, measurement, and signal analysis.
