Suddenly there are so many news about robotics. Just heard the news recently that Foxconn is going to buy 1M robots in 3 years for its factory even though there won't be enough supply by far. It seems robotics industry is getting some traction now. I also want to see a home use robot but my gut feeling is that there is still a long way to go!
I am always struck by the need for power and the demands that robotics place on vision and recognition tasks. I think the Kinect is an interesting device for use on robots and I wonder if the industry will be able to capitalize on the depth and tracking capacity.
Interesting. I laugh when people say technology creates jobs. It adds value but it may not create. On yet, they do create but they displace more people. As these technologies come primetime, they will displace more humans and unemployment will go high.
Personal Robots will still needs to be future rich to accept it for the day to day life it will be quite immature state to comment anything about it, but the Oracle's Initiative is fairly good if it leads towards improving the database access on the servers, as at present state if needs special considerations at the hardware/asic level to improve the access. Cisco has also gone a great job by bringing out a processor that support virtulization at its extent.
