Sports and medical devices seem so different that they should be tracked in different industries. One is mission critical (life saving), regulated, and the other is a consumer recreational device like an iPod or DiskMan. I'd guess that the really exciting advances will in in monitoring, regulating (automatic insulin pumps), and prosthetic assistance devices (mobility, vision, hearing).

This is a great area for wireless connections and it has been ignored for too long. It is great to see that it is finally being utilized.
