It is beauty of vision and leadership quality from Steve Job that Apple will always be cynosure of the world technology company. I wish him good health and hope Steve will be with us when new Apple Head Quarter inagurates.

Any idea how much it takes to run Apple a day?

The current scenario for Apple is that their products have become more popular than the founder. For for consumers it is the product that counts not even the company name or its CEO . Apple products have become very popular in Asia but very few of these end customers will care to know that Apple's founder has resigned .

Here's another data point: As of Monday afternoon, Apple's stock was trading at above $389, up more than 3 percent from the closing price on Aug. 24, before Jobs' resignation was announced. Investors have quickly come to grips with the resignation.

A good point. Chances are nobody will be throwing a benefit concert for Apple anytime soon.

I agree with Dylan that sky will not fall on Apple, atleast in coming years. Now the helm is in the insider's hand so not much will change culturally in the absence of Jobs.

i think you captured what most people think of Jobs. I admire him because of his leadership skills and craftsmanship. There are talented people in every company but not every company has Jobs.

That is a very common case. Most will not spend a bit more time to do more checking and make it more improved.

How many of you have been working on a design and had to release it before it was, in your opinion, completely finished? That was the key contribution from Steve Jobs. Yes, he and his staff picked the right product at the right time (usually). But a lot of companies do that. What I see is that at his insistence, the designers got a little extra time to make sure that the UI and operation was easy and intuitive. That's a small thing, but adds time and expense that most companies are not willing to spend. Most stop at "just good enough." where Apple doesn't.

To say that Andy Weir's The Martian is an exploration of math, Mars, and feces is a slight simplification. I doubt that the author would have any complaints, though.
