Passports without smart card IC chips might be perceived as being less secure; are criminal elements favoring those passports? Is there evidence that non e-passports are receiving closer scrutiny at the borders? What is the weak link in the security chain now? A/ do people use fake identification to get real passports or B/ have they found an easy way to replicate the smart card IC chips and make fake e-passports?
