Freescale ... what can I say, sold out to investors, all execs took off with their cash, massive layoffs, outsource everything, and not a leading technology company including dated designs and look at me parts. For sure invest else where and close attention to due diligence in terms of who you are buying from when it comes to component selection and Freescale powerpoint promises.

We've seen too much softening from semi companies recently. With each announcement, I keep hoping to see some optimism but so far, it seems largely lacking. Hopefully we'll see some change soon.

I have not seen freescale winning and big customer outside right now. They still have some Motorola culture living inside. I really wish they recover back but I have little hope on it.

I have seen softening from many semi companies in the past few weeks. I don't think you can blame this on just the Moto spiral. I hope things turn around soon. We need the help for the economy.

I think that's a simplified view for a company (Freescale) that has a low revenue reliance upon Motorola. In fact, in the related links below this article, there are at least 5 links for general market sales softening, including IDM, fabless, and foundry.

The old Motorola family is simply no more viable. Motorola Mobility is gone and it is expected that Freescale will go soon.

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
