Well, the most interesting part of this is the unsaid part: AMD is apparently not blaming the economy as most others seem to be. Maybe there is hope after all.

Sounds like both yield and capacity issue to me. Where is all the CAPEX being spent at Global Foundries?

They should get their 45 nm out first, then fix the 32 nm with dedicated time. Capex was supposed to take care of insufficient tools for ramps.

It looks like a piece of the article was cut (or lost): "AMD said the shortfall was primarily due to 32-nm yield, ramp and manufacturing issues at Globalfoundries' fab in Dresden, Germany, which limited supply of the company's WHAT GOES HERE? The less-than-forecasted preliminary third quarter 2011 revenue results are" It is too bad that they are being limited by the foundry yields. I wonder if there was any other issues aside from yield like perhaps production capacity? Just wondering..
