Instead of just producing code, India can now design complete turnkey solutions in their industry. That should help them get ahead in many ways.
Hmm...I wonder what happened to all the readers who insist that Government has no role to play in this area and should let private enterprise solve their own problems? Oh yes that appears to be exactly what has been happening here.

I do agree that the first order of business should be a solid infrastructure. However, it appears to me that India is more of a federation, and I wonder, if regional interests may have impeded progress to that end?
I like the idea of renaming the name of "the Department of Information Technology" as "the Department of Electronics and Information Technology" as announced by Mr. Sibal. That gives me more confidence that policies to boost electronics industries also would be in focus and not just IT.

World has lots of indian design engineers in micro-electronics field, with such incentive plan and support from state why they cant be successful. Abu dhabi doe the same yet they are lacking the educated engineers who can run the show
atlast there is something official, I believe government is certainly thinking about the electronic manufacturing. There is no derth of human resources in india. All that needed a vast government support. I hope kapil sibal can do some impactful changes soon.
Well I hope this time they really commit themselves. Last time they setup the fabcity in Hyderabad, it was a loot. 10 billion in land deals got done saying that a fab will come about. Nothing happened. Politicians made a killing. The people who bought the land around there are the suckers.... I think along with 2G, this could be the next scam....
