I'm deeply saddened...only a couple of days back the latest version of iPhone was released and today, the greatest visionary leader of this time, who basically created the vision for that product is no more among us. Talking only about his work life would be very mean. His entire life is an example of how exceptional he was. I've watched the video Nic has shared. It shall touch every heart. I wished we would have Steve much longer...but my wish did not get fulfilled.

He had the wisdom of tapping into our collective imagination and creativity. In his 2005 commencement address at Stanford University, the only one he ever gave, Steve Jobs said: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Amen! video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc

Books will be written about Steve Jobs and Apple, each one trying to pinpoint what made them great. To me, the key answer is that Steve continued to push the envelope of his world and would not take "no, it can't be done" for an answer. As Apple became more successful, that stance became easier for Steve - he had 'street cred'. Along the way he had the ability to inspire others to join him and share the dreams and hard work it took to get there.

This really marks the end of an era. He was a remarkable man, and he left a legacy of products and business methods that continue to be appreciated. He’ll be missed.

RIP Steve. We have lost one of the truly great innovators and business icons of the modern era. Steve will be missed by many, and the sadness of his passing will be felt by millions who never even knew him. In addition to his many creative and business contributions at Apple, I think one of his more significant achievements was bringing Hollywood and the music industry into the connected digital era and demonstrating that not all networked consumption of music and video was evil, and that in fact it was the foundation of new business models.

What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
