@docdivakar- yes, I think it does have much to do with the macroeconomic situation. All of the fab tool vendors are describing a cautious customer base. People are afraid to spend a lot of money on capacity expansion right now, in my opinion.
@dylan.mcgrath: isn't this somewhat counter intuitive? We are seeing record number of handhelds being shipped, flash memory is every where, MEMS devices are growing rapidly, so why is the fab b2b ratio going down? Is it the world economic turmoil? I am lost...
If you got to SEMI's website, you can see book-to-bill data going back to 2005. I think you will find that there is no seasonal trend here. It's not as though 0.75 is typical for September, for example. The b2b ratio goes up and down with the industry.
