There are other EDA tools that deal with hardware design space exploration with accelerators (possibly DSP), that may or may not be related to the HP work that you have in mind. Space Codesign has no connection with past work at HP Labs, I'm not aware of any direct citations in the academic work from Ecole Polytechnique at U de Montreal on which SpaceStudio is based.

HP had some technology like this several years ago that could be used to explore various solution spaces for processors with customizable logic 'accelerators'. Is this product an outcome of that work?
