It is building a third data center in Sweden to keep pace with an estimated 800 million users. @Rick, do they intend to diversify their data servers in differnt location ?

Well this was to come. The number of people using facebook are increasing on hourly basis and they enjoy it. Its an easy way to share you photos and video to friends and family across the world an dof course update minutes by minute status.. But I wonder how long facebook can go on. One day Engineering would have limitations or may be it would be an engineering challenge to be at speed with so many active users, handling so much data.

I'm surprised their existing racks are just 6.5 KW, since that's pretty low-density (running over 10 KW/rack has been pretty routine in HPC for ~5 years.) it would be VERY interesting to know how their costs work out, given that they're not doing anything exotic in density. since they're going direct-to-ODM, one presumes that they're just cutting out the margin otherwise introduced by HP/Dell/IBM.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
