@Kinnar, thanks for the link to the article. For industrial application, ECC in FLASH will benefit in making the safety critical applications safer.

ECC is a really required feature of processor, and if the memory itself can find and correct it will really off load the work load of processor, this way it will be really a speed boosting feature for an embedded system, one can read this article for further reading, http://perspectives.mvdirona.com/2009/10/07/YouReallyDONeedECCMemory.aspx
