Interesting. That will be a lot of challenges in the bench. That is awesome - a great push to the future. Yet, we need to start thinking of asynchronous system if we need this party to stay long. High speed comes more problems to manage.

So, where is the lower frequency limit for THz electronics? If you define THz by "operation frequency above 0.5 THz", then you might include this work: doi: 10.1109/JSSC.2009.2021911 from ISSCC 2010 from a Prof. Pfeiffer in Wuppertal, Germany.

"which works as well as x-rays" That seems like quite a stretch. THz imaging might replace some small subset of x-ray use, but certainly not the mainstream use in medical diagnostics.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
