Apple has huge advantages with scale of production. Competition wont be able to break even, if they provide a similar HW spec.

Don't be feeling sorry for Apple here. Their margins based on the table are higher than 50% which is very healthy for any system company especially one in the consumer space. The margins are highest for the 16GB ipads which are also their highest selling ones. Another interesting thing is that the manufacturing cost has gone up from $8 to ~$10 per ipad - I wonder if that could be attributed to better labor conditions in China or is the new ipad more labor intensive?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
