Layoffs

I think there are other reasons as well for layoffs rather than just business conditions.

IMHO ISIL is setting itself up for sale in 6-9 months. Don joined the board recently after selling NatSemi and the CEO has changed recently as well.

Laying off engineers cannot be a growth strategy. They are prepping for buyout and trying to improve bottomline numbers/ratios to get better valuation. (just my theory).

It is particularly tough for the engineers in California. I wish there be a substantial cut to the pay & bonus for the CEO and VPs as a condolence to those laid-off engineers! After all, should the senior management be held accountable for the business failures?

This on top of 27,000 jobs at HP. Another tough day for engineers.

Like many of you, I was saddened to hear the news of Leonard Nimoy's death. His Star Trek character Mr. Spock was an inspiration to many of us who entered technical fields.
