@MAVERICK23, true maverick. Samsung is doing pretty good in its smartphone and tablet business. I am sure this move will help Samsung to provide enhancement to its existing products.

Their capabilities are huge and complementary indeed. If they carry on like this, they will leave Intel in the dust...

Certainly Samsung is a company which does not shy away from investing due to its giant portfolio.Definitely Wireless company acquisition has something coming up from them in the near future.

Interesting move, I wonder what else they are looking at acquiring? I like the addition to Samsung and look forward to the products that result from this purchase. I wonder if they are looking to expand into handheld wireless cloud computing?

Nice Move. But nowadays the state of the art radio chipsets(from TI/BCom/CSR/Qcomm) integrates WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS/FM on a single die. Just WiFi alone wont cut it IMO.

It is evident that we are in the season of convergence in the industry. Many firms are coming together and that is good for business. If you have a reasonable good technology in the wireless domain, the chance of being bought is now very high.

What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Are the design challenges the same as with embedded systems, but with a little developer- and IT-skills added in? What do engineers need to know? Rick Merritt talks with two experts about the tools and best options for designing IoT devices in 2016. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
