The welcomed surprise here is that Freescale has acquired a well versed seasoned leader from a significant competitor. As I worked within Gregg’s organization during my time with TI, I couldn’t be more pleased. Gregg had a hand at building TI's Medical initiative early on. With his expertise in automotive, sales, analog, and yes – the healthcare segment, having Gregg at the helm is very welcomed here. I’m looking forward to his imprint as a result of expected and certain change. This will be fun and profitable! Let the new CEO reign in -

Not sure why they would pick an analog guy, but he did run the microcontroller part of TI for a while.

Gregg, congrats. Be aware that Freescale is freely falling without any scaling. The problem is simply that Freescale is in a business where they need volume to make money in a commoditized sector.Greg will have to shift them to profitable areas or find ways to boost volume. Otherwise, nothing changes.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
