These huge signs will limit visibility of the products themselves. The tiny shelf edge paper labels allow easy viewing of the products with their expensive printed marketing graphics.

less power means there's no need to install cables to power signage , and replacing many batteries once in a few years instead of very often. That saves a lot of work an money.

It is power consumption and power is money. If you can reduce power, you have a business.

LCD (excepting some more exotic types) requires power to maintain state and for backlight. E-paper does not need power for backlight and consumes much less power. I have seen estimates of 1 percent.

What is the benefit of using e-paper over LCD for signage application? The cost of LCD is likely the lowest among all. OLED is bendable. Power consumption may be one of the reasons. What else?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
