Remember that with each acquisition the smaller EDA company typically has up to 50% of their employees "let go". Then the real work of creating a credible product roadmap begins in earnest, and we still haven't seen a roadmap of the Magma/Synopsys product overlaps. The EDA market is getting tougher and tougher and consolidation is a consequence of this.

Synplicity, Magma, Ciranova, SpringSoft...... Seems to me that growth by acquisition is the only strategy at Synopsys these days. Should somebody remind them what is organic growth? BTW whos next? Atrenta?

This is very good move by Synopsys. I think this acquisition by Synoposys will further intensify the battle between Synopsys and Cadence.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
