Not necessarily so that customers will lose, it depends how greedy ARM becomes in its monopoly position. I've not seen signs of ARM abusing its position so far.

IP providers like ARM will work with all the leading foundries. (right now, TSMC & GF) They definitely would not exclude a top foundry. I'm sure ARM will have tight restrictions on information sharing between those projects. It would be significant if they also do something similar with Samsung.

I really hope there is room to other competitors, ARM has build an impressive portfolio and a collaborative environment, however, the customer will lose in the long run without real competition to ARM. Same argument is valid for TSMC and GFI as well.

hopefully GloFO and TSMC will still be able to cater to non ARM designs at 20 nm

It really amazes me how ARM can announce TSMC in one week, and GF in the following week. This is like the prom queen dating the football quarterback one week, and the wide receiver the following week.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
