This kind of JV is definitely a win win for both the companies.

It is not entirely clear. FAW Group has both component subsidiaries and is a car maker. SO it would seem likely that automobile components developed by the JV will likely make their way in to FAW vehicles and be offered to third parties.

Is the new product developed by this JV be only sold to FAW? If it is the case, I'm afraid FAW still isn't the biggest fish.

Having this kind of JV between a chip designer/manufacturer and Car Manufacturer will be resulting a better car, as today's automotive vehicles indeed require sophisticated electronic control, this JV will utilize the best of ST and FAW with their own expertise and that will give awesome results.
