For the money, I have yet to see another development platform with the cost/performance and versatility of the MSP430. The level of IO control, interrupt servicing, timing, and performance control is truly awesome. TI provides excellent software support and documentation. If you do embedded work, you would be well rewarded by looking at the TI line of embedded processors.

Thanks for your comment. I fully agree with you that XY plotting libraries are nothing new. The purpose of this article is to show how processors which aren't typically thought of in LCD applications are actually quite capable of performing well with the proper system design and optimizations. An MSP430 is rarely the first processor that comes to mind when thinking about driving a large LCD, but my aim is to change that thinking.
If I had a dime for every time I have seen the basic xy plotting sofware re-invented for a new application, I would be a very rich man.
Everything presented here has been done and overdone. XY plotting libraries abound. I wrote my first one in 1973. Little has changed, and it works quite well.
I agree that using the MSP430 line can give you a good solid platform for building a user interface for embedded products. The timing and power control is awesome.

What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
