AMD selling SandyBridge and Opteron based servers using this fabric is mind-boggling in so many ways:
- Does AMD get preferred pricing and roadmaps from Intel?
- Would AMD compete with Dell/HP and other OEMs who buy most of AMDs processors
- AMD is in effect a server company now selling systems - what would be the investment in going from a semi to a system company
It is not clear to me how this freedomfabric/sea micro system strategy is going to benefit AMD. Either someone at AMD is a genius or then they are completely clue-less.
